Chapman University Women's Choir and University Choir in Concert

Angel Vázquez-Ramos & Stephen Coker, Conductors

The University Women's Choir under the direction of Angel Vázquez-Ramos and the University Choir conducted by Stephen Coker will present a concert featuring a wide variety of choral works ranging from the Renaissance period to contemporary compositions.

Angel M. Vázquez-Ramos, Assistant Professor of Choral Music at Chapman University, is a native of Carolina, Puerto Rico. He teaches undergraduate courses in music education and conducts the University Women's Choir. In addition, he conducts the Vocal Jazz Ensemble and supervises secondary music student teachers.  Dr. Vázquez-Ramos is founder and director of the Chapman University Summer Choral Music Camp.  Before completing his doctoral studies at Florida State University, he taught secondary choral music for seven years in Pinellas County Schools in the Tampa Bay Area. In addition, he worked as director of music ministries in churches in both Largo and Tallahassee, Florida. His research interest includes: teacher preparation, rehearsal techniques, adolescent choirs, and assessment in music education.  Learn more...

Stephen Coker is Director of Choral Activities and Associate Professor of Music at Chapman University.  Prior to this appointment, Dr. Coker served on the faculties of Portland State University (2006-2009), the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) from 2000-2006, and Oklahoma City University (OCU) from 1975-2000.  Learn more...
